Dr. Scott-Thornburg is board certified in dermatology since 2003. She practices general and medical dermatology with emphasis in pediatric dermatology, laser surgery, and cosmetic procedures. Dr. Scott-Thornburg is in her seventh year of practicing dermatology in the Skin Institute at the Rapid City Medical Center.

In 2007, 2008 & 2009, the Consumers’ Research Council of America selected her as one of America’s top dermatologists. Additionally, she is in her fifth consecutive year as a member of the Dermatology Foundation Leader’s Society. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as the American Medical Association and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. In 2009 she was awarded the lifetime membership into the Global Directory of Who's Who.

She is also passionate about fundraising. In 2007, along with the assistance of her partners, local businesses and community volunteers, she started the Made for Shade Foundation. The foundation hosts a gourmet food and wine tasting with a silent auction raffle each year in June. The goal is to provide shade to area school and non-profit playgrounds and school sporting events, coupling this with sun precautions and education to decrease skin cancer. During the first year, over $15,000 was raised and over $80,000 has been raised since the foundation was started in 2007. Dr Scott-Thornburg believes this goal will markedly decrease skin cancer in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
